Urgent warning issued after major coffee recall over deadly toxin contamination fears

Food safety officials have sounded the alarm after hundreds of canned coffee products were recalled over fears of toxic contamination.

More than 250 Snapchill LLC coffee products are being voluntarily recalled by the company after the FDA raised concerns about cross-contamination with the deadly botulinum toxin, which can lead to botulism.

The federal agency has reportedly flagged problems with the company’s low-acid canning method, which poses the risk of allowing the toxin to grow and spread to potentially fatal levels.

There are currently no reports of users becoming ill from botulism, a form of food poisoning that can cause a number of health problems, including breathing problems, weakness, dizziness and speech problems.

The FDA reportedly warned the coffee company after determining it had violated regulations by failing to notify the agency that it was using the low-acid method.

Although the recall was voluntary, the potential cross-contamination from the food toxin could be fatal.

Health officials warn that symptoms can appear within six hours, but may not appear for up to two weeks, with victims requiring emergency medical attention if contracted.

The coffee company produces a range of canned cold brews sold nationwide, under various brand names.

According to the recall, users are warned to check the packaging of coffee products as Snapchill may not be found clearly.

Instead, the name would appear under the nutrition facts section of the package and read “manufactured and distributed by Snapchill LLC.”

Customers will have the chance to get their money back from the company, provided they have proof of purchase and a photo of the coffee can they purchased.

DailyMail.com has contacted Snapchill LLC for comment.

The company maintained that it has received no indication that the products have made anyone sick, but is issuing the recall out of an abundance of caution.
