A house fire claimed the life of a woman trapped inside her own home. The incident took place yesterday in Bang Thorat, Samut Sakhon.
Police Lieutenant Kritsanaphon Watjanaphan, Deputy Inspector of Bang Thorat Police Station, received a report of a fire in a house located in Village No. 6, Bang Thorat Subdistrict, Mueang District. Fire trucks from Bang Thorat Subdistrict Administrative Organisation and Bang Krachao Subdistrict Administrative Organisation, a total of three trucks, were dispatched to the scene.
The fire occurred in a two-storey house, half concrete and half wood. Firefighters worked tirelessly to extinguish the blaze that completely engulfed the house. Once the fire was under control, officials inspected the remnants of the house and found one deceased individual. The victim, identified as 55 year old Sai, was found charred on the ground floor.
According to initial information, Sai was alone in the house when the fire broke out. Her husband was sleeping on a bamboo bed outside, while their children were at work. The husband smelled something burning and woke up to find smoke billowing from the house’s door. He rushed to knock on the door, calling out for his wife, but she was unable to escape. He immediately contacted authorities for help, but it was too late, and his wife was lost to the flames.
Preliminary assumptions by officials suggest that the fire might have been caused by an electrical short circuit, as a mobile phone was being charged at the time. The local forensic unit in Samut Sakhon will conduct a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire, reported KhaoSod.
The community in Bang Thorat is mourning the loss of Sai. Neighbours and friends have expressed their condolences and are rallying around the family to offer support during this difficult time.
“It’s a devastating loss for the family and the community. We need to be more vigilant about fire safety and look out for each other.”
